Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou, the oldest of four sisters, was born on 8 August 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de-Domme. Her parents were dentists and a teacher recognised and supported her interest in theater and acting from a young age which outweighed her desire to become a primatologist thanks to her passion for monkeys. Her rise to fame as a young actress quickly and was accompanied with early success. Following her graduation as an actress, she was part of the French talent-scouting TV program Jeunes Premiers. She took home the award for best young Actress in the Beziers Festival of Young Actors and began her professional career acting as an actress. While she attended in the Institut Catholique de Paris and had a religious affiliation in her early years, Tautou is now averse to the Catholic tradition, saying that she's not Catholic. She pursued a career in modeling as well as acting and is the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc and Chanel often referred to as The Chanel Muse. Additionally, she is a keen passion for photography. She recently produced an exhibition of her photography at the Arles Festival under the title Superficial. The focus of her photography is celebrity, fame and the media who scrutinized her following her rise to fame with Amelie. Also, she has numerous photographs of herself. Audrey Tautou shot to stardom and international fame with her first role in a major film, as the lead role in the film Le Fabuleux Destin de l'Amelie Poulain. Amelie is a box office hit internationally and was recognized by numerous international awards ceremonies. Amelie is the top grossing French film to date in the US. In the wake of this enormous success, Tautou starred in many films which included British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long Sunday de fiancailles. Also, she starred with Tom Hanks in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code directed by Dan Brown.
