April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4 April, 1995) started her musical journey as a 7th grader when she started guitar and piano classes. In April, when she was 12 years old, she composed her first single called Different. As April approached 14 years old, she spent long hours making song concepts and perfecting her music. The songwriting began along with her dad and her dad in NY and LA within a short time. April was also able to add other themes in the tune "Take My Hand" to help her friends who dealt with concerns like peer pressure disabilities, and even teenage suicide. Lockhart is also gaining a growing fan base as a lifestyle blogger and is employed by the renowned brand of clean and natural beauty Ilia. She was born without a left hand, and it creates her unique. But this isn't the only thing about her. Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't overlook the fact that she has a disability. It also doesn't emphasize her disability. What is the message? The message is that we all share multiple identities and are far more complicated than we believe we are. Lockhart through a video message from Nashville home, states that I don't wish for my physical appearance to define my character. I'm more than my physical self. The issue doesn't affect my everyday life. I go about my business as usual and have developed different ways of adapting. Because it's part of who I am It's a topic worthy of talking about. Lockhart, a real source of inspiration for anyone who wants to be self-accepting and is currently on a lengthy process to attain the goal. However, she acknowledges going through phases with her body, at times, not being confident in wearing particular types of clothes that showed off her arms. Nowadays, she can wear whatever she wants. And she posts pictures on social networks. One of the keys to self-love for her is that it's not a place to go. It's the same for everybody regardless of their insecurity.
